Joel the Geographer maps First District wineries!

Joel loves maps! He runs a GIS business and has been taking aerial photographs since back in the days when that meant strapping a camera to a weather balloon. (Google Maps, eat your heart out.) His latest project? He has created a map and database of many excellent wineries located in the First District, and we pass it along to you for your wine tasting pleasure.

 

 

Obama picks Biden, Joel digs it

It was a pleasant surprise waking up this morning to find that the wait was over! Like everyone in America, we here at the campaign have had our own short lists going, and Joel's included Biden, Hagel and Napolitano. That means Joel was right, but luckily he's too nice to rub it in. Instead, he stated that Biden is "a good choice that I'm very comfortable with," and that Biden is a genuine, down-to-earth leader who "has real world experience that complements Obama's well."

And hey, if you haven't checked it out yet, hop on over to RepublicansForObama.org and read Joel's piece "What Motivates Me to Support Barack." Speaking of digging, he's already up to 24 Diggs, so if you like what you read please let it be known!

 

Joel makes the rounds

It sure is heating up around here, and we don't just mean the weather! This week Joel appeared on The O'Reilly Factor alongside Doug Kmiec, another noted Republican who has endorsed Barack Obama for President. He also joined the Independent Party and the Working Families Party in filing suit against the Secretary of State in our fight to get both his Republican and Independent nominations listed on the ballot. (For more info about that, follow this link.) Then Joel braved the heat and headed out to Hillsboro's Cornell Estates, where he had a really excellent discussion with residents. He's even managed to get in a bikeride or two.

There will be many photos added to the site in the next few days, including images from last weekend's first leg of the Bipartisan Bikeride and the Haugenator's appearance in the Elephant Garlic Festival Parade, so please check back! In the meantime, you can hear Joel live on 1360 KUIK radio Friday at 8:45 AM!
