October 2008

Monday, October 6th
*Carbon Free Prosperity Event: Over 130 senior executives, policy leaders and climate change/sustainability experts (including Joel!) will gather to discuss how the Northwest can create green jobs, deliver energy security, and thrive in the global clean-tech marketplace.

Saturday, October 11th
*Green Energy Economy Rally: Spend a great day at the coast by joining Joel in attending Astoria's Green Energy Economy Rally, cosponsored by the Columbia River Business Alliance, Columbia Riverkeepers, and the Pacific Marine Conservation Council. Joel, not only a candidate and conservationist but also a scientist, will appear as one of the guest speakers at this event, and (a faux) Sarah Palin will MC the event, which will run from 1-3pm. Attendees should hear for the Hotel Elliott, and signs will direct you to the rally site. Also keep an eye out for Joel cruising around Astoria on board the Haugenator!

*Meet & Greet with Joel: After the rally, stop by the Hotel Elliott's Presidential Suite for the chance to meet Joel! The Meet & Greet will follow the rally, running from 3-5pm. We look forward to meeting you there!

Thursday, October 16th
*First District Congressional Debate: The First District candidates have all been invited to debate the issues at Pacific University in an event sponsored by the Pacific University's Politics and Law Forum. Joel will be there with opponents H. Joe Tabor and Scott Semrau, and so should you! The event begins at 7pm at Pacific University in Forest Grove.

Sunday, October 18th
*Fall Festival: Please join us at Cedar Hills Recreation Center's Fall Festival, a community event that is enjoyable for the entire family. There'll be cookie decorating, face painting, craft projects, Kid Fit Room, magic show, carnival games, inflatable bouncer, costume parade, pumpkin painting and much more. Wear your costume and be ready for some fun! A pizza lunch will be available for purchase while enjoying free entertainment in the gym. Event runs for 12-4 pm.

Sunday, October 19th
*Run Like Hell Half-Marathon: Joel's knees haven't told us yet if he'll be running the half-marathon, the 5K, or the 10K, but he'll be there! And knowing Joel, he'll definitely be costumed...

Saturday, October 25th
*Giant Pumpkin Regatta: Bring the family, rain or shine, and join Joel to watch the giant pumpkins race across the lake, have a warm treat, listen to great music, and enjoy other fun activities. 10am-2pm at Tualatin Commons - 8325 SW Nyberg St., Tualatin. Admission is free!

Friday, October 31st
*Halloween at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse: To quote McMenamins:."Musical entertainment provided by SPIGOT. Imagine a scrap metal heap. A steamy compost pile, A splintery porch swing. Green gutter water. A pack of flea-ridden ferrals. Best put, SPIGOT burps out an urban-rural-junkyard mishmash of tunes, guaranteed to get the foot stompin'. And they have a hoot of a time doing it. Band members play whatever instrument they can get their grubby paws on - acoustic guitar, bass, drums, triangle, cowbell, harmonica, banjo, spoons - you name it." Sounds like our kind of show! Please join the Haugen Team there, and wear a costume!

November 2008
