Letters to the Editor

Want to exclaim to the masses that there is such a thing as a Progressive Republican? Can't wait to spread the word about Joel's commitment to clean energy, a cooperative foreign policy, and overhauling our tax system? Love Joel's plan to get a new generation of Americans to invest in our communities through incentive-based service programs?

We strongly encourage you to let your voice be heard! One of the best ways to get the word out is through Letters to the Editor sent to your local paper. We've compiled a list of tips for you, as well as contact information for the newspapers serving our community

Tips for a Writing Successful Letter

  • Be concise. Letters should be kept to under 200 words. Newspapers can edit your letter prior to publishing it, and you never know if they'll cut your best point, so be as brief as possible.
  • Stay focused. Your opening sentence should summarize the point you hope to make with your letter. It is also best to limit yourself to three strong points on why you believe Joel Haugen should be our Congressman.
  • Target your audience. Be sure to submit your letter to a local paper within Joel's district (District 1), where readers will be engaged in the points you are making. District 1 news organizations are listed below.
  • Check for grammar and spelling. Make sure you proofread your letter before submitting it, and that it conforms to the relevant paper's guidelines.
